FAQs

Why should I hire a financial advisor to manage my money?

A financial planner can help you navigate the complex world of finance and help you align your values and goals.  The financial advisor should be well-versed with all financial and tax planning topics and experience to help protect and grow your savings.   By working with a knowledgeable advisor, you may be able to take advantage of financial planning opportunities and invest in a more tax efficient manner than indexing or active mutual fund strategy.

Where will my assets be held?

All of your assets will be held at Fidelity Investments.  We believe Fidelity’s significant scale allows them to provide latest technologies and low-cost third-party custodian services.  Song Wealth Management will never hold client assets, which means only you (the client) will be able to contribute and withdraw funds.

Fidelity Investments® (Fidelity) is an independent company, unaffiliated with Song Wealth Management ("SWM") and ASN Compliance. Fidelity is a service provider to both. There is no form of legal partnership, agency affiliation or similar relationship between your financial advisor and Fidelity, nor is such a relationship created or implied by the information herein. Fidelity has not been involved with the preparation of the content supplied by SWM. Fidelity is a registered service mark of FMR LLC. Fidelity provides clearing, custody, or other brokerage services through National Financial Services LLC or Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC, Members NYSE, SIPC.

How are you paid?

Song Wealth Management is a fee-only financial advisor. We operate on a fee-only basis and do not accept commissions or referral fees. We believe this structure allows us to focus solely on providing advice that aligns with your best interests.

What is Advisory Services Network and how does your affiliation with them affect me?

Advisory Services Network is an SEC Registered Investment Adviser that strategically partners with financial advisors, providing them an all-inclusive platform designed to serve as an advisor’s compliance, operations and back office. Registration of an investment adviser does not imply any level of skill or training.

As a member of ASN, Song Wealth Management clients benefit from a multi-billion RIA’s scale, industry-leading tools, technology, and relationships.

When is the right time to start establishing a financial plan?

We believe the right time to start establishing a financial plan is now.   It is ideal to have a plan in place early so you can potentially save and benefit from the power of compounding.

What is the difference between a Registered Investment Advisor and a broker?

The biggest difference is that a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) such as Song Wealth Management has a fiduciary obligation to their clients. A fiduciary must legally put the interest of their clients ahead of their own. RIAs do not sell products and seeks alignment of interest solely through their fees.

Brokers are held to a suitability standard and they must act in the client’s best interest when making their recommendation. Brokers must avoid conflicts of interest or disclose and mitigate them. However, they are not legally bound to act as fiduciaries in the same way that registered investment advisors are. You should always ask a financial professional whether they act as a fiduciary and understand the differences between standards of care.
